Internet access for all your guests in all areas
Western only use up-to-date technologies that we believe will stand the test
of time, such as Category5, Ethernet, DSL and Linux. In particular, we do not
believe that some of the apparently 'cheap' solutions being offered, such as
wireless access for guestrooms, will be able to support future services which
the market will be demanding in five or ten years' time, or even offer a
satisfactory guest experience now.
Elements of the solution
The SpeedWay solution is built from a toolkit of components to create the
optimum solution for each site. The core elements of a SpeedWay solution are:
- An ADSL broadband link, or a leased line where ADSL is not available
- The SpeedWay server, which provides zero-configuration network access, billing, and an in-house portal
- A future-proof wired network to guestrooms, usually Ethernet over Cat5.

Where required, Western can also design and install fibre-optic interconnections
between buildings, xDSL over existing wiring (where Cat5 installation is
impracticable) and wireless coverage for public areas.
Integration and ease of use
SpeedWay is designed to integrate with your existing systems through an
interface to your existing PMS/front-of-house system. Because it uses Linux
technology, the standard for always-on services in the core of the Internet,
there is very little maintenance required, and Western's support team can
remotely access the system should it be needed.
