30 Apr 06 - Stoke Park has upgraded to the full Movies-on-Demand product

Stoke Park Club with its 27 hole golf course, Stoke Poges, the amazing golf pavilion, luxury bedrooms and award winning spa, SPA SPC, is one of the most special places in the world, in one of the most convenient locations in Britain.

It also played host to one of the most memorable games of golf in movie history - the golf match for the film version Goldfinger (1964) was shot at Stoke Park Club, and remains cinema's most famous golfing scene. Sean Connery's agent 007 is pitted against Auric Goldfinger, in the monumental form of the late Gert Frobe - complete with Plus Fours! After catching Goldfinger cheating, Bond switches balls on his opponent during the match. Realising that Bond is attempting to interfere in his affairs, Goldfinger motions to Oddjob, his deadly Korean manservant and caddie, to sever the head of a nearby statue with his steel-rimmed bowler. Bond is suitably impressed, but wonders what the club secretary will have to say. Goldfinger explains smugly, "Oh nothing Mister Bond - I own the club!"

Western were invited to install Speedway at Stoke Park in 2005, and due to the success of this system with the management and guests, this was upgraded to the full Movies-on- Demand product in April 2006. Western also supplied, through our partner Airwave, brand-new Philips LCD Hotel Televisions to all the guestrooms.
